Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
TORONTO – Images of a “shoot-out at the OK Corral” come to mind. For the followers of American Western lore and legend where one gang of thugs settled theirs scores with another outside a barn through adept use of firearms rather than debate in a Court of law. The American way. Or the English custom a’ la War of the Roses. Or American gangsters carving up territory in the inner cities.
TORONTO – This has to have been one of the sleepiest election campaigns in Ontario’s provincial electoral history. The first clue is the over-dependence on “sloganeering” in lieu of discussions that capture the essence of the province we want to build and how we plan to do it.
TORONTO – I am sure they thought they were “doing the right thing”. Four Federal Members of Parliament took time out of their all-consuming fight against the Spread of Omicron to send a letter via twitter (and other digital media) to weigh in on the most urgent matter afflicting the regional municipality of Halton.
Covid crisis is almost two years now and it’s taking a toll on almost everything, including one we most need – friendship.
