Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
TORONTO – Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre is refusing to meet with the government’s special rapporteur on foreign interference in Canada, David Johnston, because his is a “fake job” entrusted to someone who is not impartial. The leaders of the NDP and the Bloc Québécois have already met with the special rapporteur called to determine whether or not the federal government should launch a public inquiry into the interference: only Poilievre, therefore, has refused the meeting. TORONTO – Avoiding open heart surgery, which involves risks and complications for the patient and raising costs for the healthcare system, is now possible thanks to minimally-invasive cardiac surgery: with the advances in technology and medical techniques, surgeons can now practice small incisions to reach the heart between the ribs, all without cutting the sternum, thus avoiding major blood loss, reducing the risk of infection and post-operative pain and allowing for a faster recovery of patients who spend less time in hospital and can return to their normal activities more quickly.
NAPLES – She travels 1,600 kilometers a day by train to go to work and back home. Apparently it’s less expensive given the rental prices. These days, it is no exaggeration to define the worker Giuseppina Giuliano, a 29-year-old school worker, stoic: every day the Naples-Milan route (and back) is made by train because the city of the Madonnina, where she works as a janitor at the art school ” Boccioni” in piazzale Arduino, is too expensive and therefore, on balance, it is more advantageous to take the train and stay and live with her parents in Naples. TORONTO – Make it easier for foreign workers to find employment that reflects their professional field. This is the objective of a project presented today in Queen’s Park by the Minister of Labour Monte McNaughton, which if it were to be approved would eliminate the requirement – requested by 23 trade associations – for which a given foreign worker must have work experience in Canada before having his professional qualification equalized. The measure specifically illustrates different job categories that will be affected including architects, engineers, teachers, social workers and accountants. (more…)
TORONTO – “Ontario’s Covid-19 numbers are starting to be worrying and schools will shortly reopen: it’s time we all unite and work together for the people of Ontario”: the appeal is from Steven Del Duca (in the pic above, from his Twitter profile), Ontario Liberal Party’s leader, in a letter sent to premier Doug Ford and all the majority and opposition political parties and to representatives of associations of doctors, nurses, teachers and public employees and trade unions.
