Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.

TORONTO – More than 300 victims of sexual exploitation of minors have emerged from the “dark web”, i.e. the “hidden” internet, where online crimes are committed, often horrific such as child pornography: they were discovered by an international coalition of forces of the order, including the Canadian ones, which have worked in synergy to vanquish the terrible “traffic”. TORONTO – We return to talk about Covid-19. What seemed like a distant (bad) memory, reappears with a new “code name”: EG.5, i.e. a subvariant of the coronavirus on the rise in some parts of the world and “landed” also in Canada, at least since May according to the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC). TORONTO – The federal government has suspended direct financial assistance to the government of Niger after a military coup ousted President Mohamed Bazoum: Strongly condemning the coup, Canada’s Foreign Minister Melanie Joly has called for the reinstatement of the President Bazoum and the “democratically elected government”.
Senator Loffreda is in Italy this month to take part in the Walk for Remembrance and Peace in honor of the 80th anniversary of Operation Husky. So far, the Walk has been quite successful, well-received throughout Sicily and generating much interest. The Senator wrote about his experience in this column.
