Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.

On Tuesday, Ontario logged 1,616 new Covid-19 cases. It was the lowest daily number of new infections in 8 weeks. Of the total confirmed positive cases in the province, 93.5% have recovered. In the last 24-hours, the province’s daily Covid-related deaths increased by another 17 fatalities.

For the ninth day in a row, Ontario logged less than 3,000 new Covid-19 cases. In the last 24-hours, health officials recorded 2,170 new infections. Of the total confirmed positive cases in the province, 93% have recovered. Slightly better than Canada’s rate of 92.9%.
Daily Covid-related deaths increased by another 4 fatalities, the lowest single-day increase in the last eight weeks. (more…)

On Sunday, the UK reported its lowest daily case count in just over one week. In the last 24-hours, health officials recorded 1,926 new infections. More that 96% of all confirmed positive cases in the country have recovered. The highest rate among most European countries. (more…)

On Saturday, India reported its lowest daily case count in more than three and a half weeks. In the last 24-hours, health officials recorded just over 310,000 new infections. After two consecutive days of less than 4,000 Covid-related deaths each day, fatalities increased by another 4,090. (more…)

For the second day in a row, Covid-related deaths in India dip below 4,000. As the highly infectious viral strain continues its spread across the country, health officials recorded more than 326,000 new infections in the last 24-hours. India’s total case count surpassed 24.3 million since the outbreak took hold over one year ago.
