YCDSB: Scuglia retired, De Faveri new Director of Education
TORONTO – YCDSB’s Director of Education, Domenic Scuglia, announced his retirement today, after 41 years of service in various educational institutions since 1982. A sudden, unexpected announcement.
The York Catholic District School Board itself made it known through a press release with some statements by the Chair of the Board of Trustees, Elizabeth Crowe: “The Board of Trustees is grateful for Domenic Scuglia’s many contributions to the YCDSB, in particular for creating stability in our school board during the difficult days near the end of the pandemic”. And: “Dom’s commitment to reconciliation
with Indigenous peoples is inspiring and it will be one of his lasting legacies in this board.”.
“It has been a joy and honour to be part of the YCDSB for 40 years” said Domenic Scuglia.
Taking his place will be John De Faveri who will fill the role of interim director of the YCDSB. Formerly at the helm of the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board, De Faveri has worked as a teacher, vice-principal, principal and superintendent of education across southern Ontario. The years spent in Thunder Bay were the highlight of his career which also saw him involved in the YCDSB itself. “I am extremely grateful for the opportunity that the Trustees at YCDSB have given to me to once again serve the York Catholic community” said John De Faveri. “It feels great to return to where my career began.”.
